First Inning Fireworks
The Blue Jays started the game on fire. In the very first inning, they exploded for 8 runs — including a 2-run single by Alejandro Kirk and a 3-run homer from Addison Barger. Davis Schneider added a 2-run shot later in the same inning. It was one of the best offensive starts the Jays have had all season.
With a huge lead and José Berríos on the mound, everything seemed to be under control.
Yankees Fight Back Hard
But the Yankees refused to quit.
In the fifth inning, they put together a huge rally — getting five straight hits off Berríos, including a powerful 2-run double by Aaron Judge and a 3-run homer by Giancarlo Stanton, bringing the score all the way back to 8–6. They added another run in the sixth, making it 8–7.
Back and Forth Action
Schneider wasn’t done — he smashed his second home run of the game in the seventh inning to give the Blue Jays a bit of breathing room at 9–7.
But in the eighth, Aaron Judge hit another massive homer, this time a 2-run shot, tying the game at 9–9. It was his 31st home run of the season.
Springer Scores the Winner on Wild Pitch
The turning point came in the bottom of the eighth. George Springer drew a walk, stole second base, and then advanced to third on a deep fly ball. Then, with two outs, a wild pitch from Yankees reliever Devin Williams bounced away — and Springer sprinted home to give the Jays a 10–9 lead.
Addison Barger followed with a single to bring in Vladimir Guerrero Jr., making it 11–9.
Big Catch and Final Out
In the ninth inning, reliever Jeff Hoffman came in to close the game. He got help from a huge defensive play — a leaping catch by Myles Straw at the center-field wall that stopped extra bases and sealed the win.
With that, the Blue Jays and Yankees are now tied at 48–38, sitting just half a game ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East.
