Sakshi’s family is middle-class, consisting of her mother, father, and younger siblings. Her responsibilities grew when her father suddenly suffered from paralysis.
Now, Sakshi had to take care of her younger brother, little sister, her father’s treatment, and manage the household.
Being a graduate, Sakshi handled everything efficiently. At this point, her family became her whole world. Her parents were proud of her. During this time, she refused several marriage proposals, including some from relatives.
One day, a young man named Rachit started showing interest in her. Sakshi avoided him, but eventually, his mother visited Sakshi’s home to discuss the marriage.
Rachit came from a wealthy family, and after much persuasion, Sakshi agreed to marry him—but with one condition: she would continue to manage her household and her job. Rachit’s mother agreed.
The wedding took place, and Sakshi was happy. Before the wedding, she wanted to talk to Rachit, but he did not make any move, so she stayed quiet.
On the wedding day, Sakshi finally saw Rachit after many days. He looked very nervous. Although he had pursued her before, now he appeared distant. Sakshi felt something was off.
On the wedding night, she noticed several male voices outside and wondered how she would recognize him. Rachit entered the room, his face pale. He sat quietly in the corner, and Sakshi found this strange.
Rachit neither spoke nor came near her. Sakshi finally took the initiative:
Sakshi: “Don’t be so nervous. I like you.”
Rachit turned toward her. She asked,
Sakshi: “Are you happy?”
He only nodded. She continued,
Sakshi: “I wanted to talk so much, but you never initiated. Let’s talk now.”
Rachit still remained silent. Sakshi grew anxious:
Sakshi: “Why aren’t you speaking? Tell me what’s wrong.”
Finally, Rachit used sign language to show that he could not speak. Sakshi was shocked and instinctively moved away from him.
On that very first night, she realized that Rachit’s family had hidden a major truth from her. Unable to bear the deceit, she returned to her home. Her family was shocked and blamed themselves for not finding out sooner.
Sakshi decided to take the matter to court. The divorce process began just one day after the wedding.
Rachit’s mother visited Sakshi’s home. Sakshi’s mother scolded her, but Sakshi stopped her and asked the truth. Rachit’s mother admitted that she only wanted the best for her son. She explained that Rachit genuinely loved Sakshi but could not speak and feared telling her himself.
Sakshi learned that Rachit was also misled. She understood why he had appeared distant. Even though Rachit could not speak, he loved her deeply.
After the divorce proceedings, life gradually returned to normal for Sakshi. She resumed her work and household routines. A few months later, Rachit started appearing near her office. For fifteen days, Sakshi avoided him.
Finally, she confronted him:
Sakshi: “Stop all this. I don’t want any drama.”
Rachit tried to communicate through gestures, but Sakshi walked away.
The next day, she received a message from him:
Rachit: “Sorry, but I really love you. No one can love you more than I do. Eyes never lie. Look into mine once, then do what feels right to you.”
Reading this, Sakshi’s anger melted. She lifted her eyes and saw tears in Rachit’s eyes.
Sakshi: “No one has ever explained this to me like this before.”
She then stood up and told him to carry her belongings back. Rachit hugged her warmly.
Moral: Love is not always about words. Sometimes, understanding and honesty can speak louder than any promise.
